Tallil Outskirts is based on Tallil Airbase in Iraq, which has been a strategic military asset since the Gulf War in the '90s. The map was designed with a primary focus on tank warfare in the open desert. Sand dunes, wadies, and rocky outcrops are the predominant natural features allowing armored squads the ability to play cat and mouse against the opponents. However, the capture points are an infantry heaven, with thick concrete bunkers, underground tunnels, and plenty of firing positions, the map offers engaging gameplay for everyone with a smidge of Mad Max mixed in.
I was the primary level designer and developer on this map, including all concepting, layout design, asset placement, and foliage. Worked closely with Environment Art in creation of new airfield assets and tech art for landscape materials, and thanks to Tristan and Piotr for help with set dressing at the airbase.
